TNT has enrolled one of the best known filmmakers in our time to direct their new show The Last Ship. The man behind Transformers will executive produce an eight-episode (so far) prequel to “Treasure Island” called Black Sails for Starz as well as developing another nautical themed pilot at TNT called The Last Ship. The Last Ship, based on the popular novel by William Brinkley, follows Navy crew members, who, when a global catastrophe nearly obliterates the earth’s population, are forced to confront a world where they are among the only survivors. The project comes from Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
